Have the Chance?? Take it.

Have you ever had that chance and not taken it?? Last summer I took a huge leap of faith that was completely out of my comfort zone. Took the the chance of a lifetime to go and volunteer in Mozambique, Africa. I traveled with 14 other high school students to the land unknown. We went to work for an organization called The Fontaine Children's Charity Foundation.

For those that don't know its an organization run by a good friend of mine Tiffany Fontaine. She has been fund raiseing money to send directly to Connie and Moises in Nampula, Africa to help run the street boys organization. While we were there we worked directly with the street boys. They are the ones who are in all my pictures of course. I had the pleasure of meeting more then 100 street boys that had no home and live to survive daily on the streets of an impoverished African city. As heavy as that sounds this organization allows the street boys to get off the streets and out of trouble. They have a safe haven three times a week at Connie and Moses' property.

During this lovely blogging experience I plan on sharing the stories of some of the boys that I grew to know and love. Stories of running from police men carrying AK47s to having a street boy cry on your shoulder. Not a day goes by that I don't realize how lucky and privileged I am to have had the experience of meeting these people who literally live in a completely different world then us. Here's a little taste of Africa

Life is defiantly different in a developing nation that it is in our super materialized world. Things like Perez Hilton, or the designer you are wearing doesn't matter. Its a simple yet complicated life that people lead over there. Simple as in the pace of life and beliefs and values that they share with each other. Our main mode of transportation. Glamorous isn't it??

There is so much more to show and share with people. Its overwhelming to the naked eye when really thought about. I kept a journal whilst over there dealing with culture shock and all the changes I have to endure including the dribble of water there was to shower with and the constant feeling of helplessness. I will post some excerpts from my journal and from my trip abroad.

On to the not so heavy topic of great music. Although sitting down with the right person can be one of the heaviest conversations you could ever have. This week I seem to be loving the;

Vampire Weekend - White Sky
Two Door Cinema Club - Something Good Can Work
B.o.b. Featuring Hayley Williams - Airplanes
Miike Snow - Silvia
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home (RAC Mix)

Know the artist personally, shared some experiences that I'll never forget. His fresh new art, Obido.

Need I say more. Just kidding. He has some serious talent.

That's it for now kids.
